I’ve heard of Bathurst but know basically nothing about it. Nevertheless, I’ve clicked the video and now I know what I’m doing this weekend...

It’s great. And last 4 years I’ve been watching it for free on YouTube with no commercials.

I’ve been enjoying it! There’s a surprising amount of strategy involved, which is interesting, and the variety of cars is cool, and that track and everything makes the racing exciting... I’ve been wanting to get into motorsports for a while, so this is fun! Nascar is frickin’ boring compared to this.

Tuned in just in time to see Garth Tander stuff it into a wall. That’s a shame, but looks like he’ll be okay

It's worth noting that Bathurst today is going to be hot (36 degrees C) and may well experience thunderstorms late in the afternoon. There could also be increasing smoke haze and some raised dust. The last couple of hours could be treacherous.

Did you see the interview? It was a misfire, whatever sensor it was, unplug it and plug it back in... works, send it.

Last 20 minutes last year was the race decider, there’s been enough wrecks this year during practice & race. Should be for one hell of an afternoon.
High of 7°C today and 19°C tomorrow. I think I’ll be taking my Motorcycle out to a Custom motorcycle show tomorrow.
Do you get commercials on the tv there during the race? Anything on TV in US has 2 minutes about every 15 of advertising. Annoying. It make for the 12H Bathurst one of my favorite races. Free, and no ads, except for the occasional Bathurst town promos.

The closed captions are funny. I just saw one of them refer to the Lamborghini Huracan as the “Miura Cat”. Also, “French verb issues”.

I’m chrome casting to the TV, so I don’t have the CC on. I bet the algorithm is a bit nuts for the closed captioning, surely it’s not real humans??
I’m really glad you’re enjoying it. If there is free (YouTube) streaming endurance races I’m watching I’ll usually share here. Asian Le Mans series is one.

Yeah there’ll be commercials... typically every ten to fifteen minutes. It is showing on free to air TV but I’ll have to admit that I’m not watching it. Motor racing hasn’t really engaged me now for the last twenty years...

America is so much NASCAR, I don’t watch that lame shit. Also most of it is limited to if you have a cable subscription.
I’m not paying for all the other crap I won’t watch.
I’ve actually contemplated visiting AU Because of the race and my wife wants to see the zoo.

Which zoo? Taronga in Sydney? That is by no means the only zoo! Can also recommend Taronga’s Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo (couple of hours drive west of Bathurst), Adelaide Zoo and its open range sister at Monarto in South Australia and Melbourne Zoo and its sister at Healesville in Victoria.
Weirdly enough...both the South Australian and Victorian zoos are also close to race tracks...South Oz has Tailem Bend (whilst also turning the Adelaide city streets into a race track in late February ) whilst Victoria has the rather fetching Philip Island (plus the F1 track around Albert Park in mid March ).

Well, credit where credit is due, if it is an algorithm, it’s a pretty fantastic one. But even the best ones make mistakes now and then. A while ago it ref er red to Winkelhock as “wiggle hawk” :)

eah, how about that.My wife was hoping for the 912, but I was pulling for the Bentley Boys after a disaster last year. They pulled out of the pits and accidentally hit the kill switch instead of something else, so the car sat for 30-40 seconds at the end of pit exit.
